Barokes is granted the Hong Kong patent for its Vinsafe™ technology. The granting of the Hong Kong patent is a significant achievement for Barokes as it represents the first of the Chinese patents.

Spanish distributor, Constantino Sabada introduces Barokes wine in can into REPSOL-YPF (petrol stations) in Spain from 1st November.

Constantino Sabado prinicipal, Alberto Sabado was featured as a guest speaker at the Design and Innovation conference held in Barcelona on 9th November as part of BCN Design Week. Alberto presented on the innovative new age packaging concept - Barokes Wine in a Can and the Vinsafe™ technology behind it. The presentation was well received with agreement that wine in can is a revolution in innovative packaging!

Barokes supported a reception for 600 guests for the Modern Living Awards (design magazine) held in Tokyo on 27th October. Barokes wine in a can was the only wine served at this event and a Barokes advertisement will feature in the January issue of Modern Living in Japan. View Photos

Barokes was served and heavily promoted at Festival Lief held in Holland on 9th September. A radio commercial was aired on major stations and featured the tagline "powered by Barokes wine in a can". There was also a Barokes marque and lounge area at this event and a cocktail created incorporating Red Bull, Red Vodka and Barokes Bubbly Chardonnay Semillon. View Photos

The David Jones Christmas Hampers 2006 catalogue featuring the Barokes Hamper was released late September. This hamper is currently available in all David Jones stores throughout Australia and can also be ordered online or by phone. View Photos

Barokes secures its first airline customer! Tiger Airways will range Barokes wine in a can on all its flights from 1st November 2006. Tiger is partly owned by Singapore Airlines and currently flies to 15 destinations around Asia. Tiger is the first of a number of airlines which are expected to introduce Barokes within the next few months. The premium quality and innovative packaging has really peaked the interest of the airline sector globally - primarily due to the lighter weight as compared to glass or plastic packaging.

Nordic distributor, Jensenin ApS, sponsored a series of concerts by pop group, Vincent Van Go Go, held in early July at Roskilde Festival, mid August at the Skanderborg Festival and on 13 September in Arhus. Each concert featured branded Barokes beachballs thrown into the crowd and a stage backdrop with a Barokes can. View Photos

Barokes' Nordic importer/distributor, Jensenin Aps, negotiated the ranging of Barokes wine in a can into Denmark's Danmarks Smukkeste Festival held on the weekend of 12/13 August. Barokes was sold at the festival and the Barokes Pyramid (see photo) constructed with over 1000 cans was a feature in the centre of Vinotheeket, the only wine bar at the event.

Q8 Service Stations range Barokes wine in a can in 245 service stations throughout Denmark. Q8 is one of Denmark's largest oil companies and with 150,000 customers daily, it is also one of the country's busiest retailers. More than 40% of the Danish population shops at Q8, buying everything from gasoline to convenience foods and car washes.

Benelux importer/distributor, Food Present BV supported the Classic Cafe event organised by Brothers discotheque (Utrecht). 20,000 guests attended the event at which Barokes wine in a can was sold. This party was also attended by a number of high profile celebrities with over 1,400 VIP guests served Barokes Bubbly Chardonnay and Bubbly Rose upon arrival. See Advertisement

Barokes wine in a can is sold at the Dutch Open Tennis Tournament held in Holland from 15-23 July. Great work from Barokes Benelux distributor, Food Present BV, in placing Barokes at such a high profile outdoor event.

Barokes' newly launched Bubbly Rose won 3rd prize at the Rose aan zee held in Holland in June. This is a very successful exhibition held on the beach featuring rose wines. Over 120 rose wines were entered. Our two rose wines have certainly been good additions to the existing range of Barokes wines in a can.

Barokes Nordic distributor, Jensenin ApS secures the first cruise liner to introduce Barokes wine in a can. The M.s Pearl of Scandinavia sales from Copenhagen, Helsingborg and Oslo and carries up to 2100 passengers each trip.

Japan Market News - the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kyoto (Japan) commences a trial of Barokes wine in a can in the Terrace Restaurant. Vision A is appointed to manage public relations and communications for Barokes Japan.

MGM Wine Distributors have been appointed as Barokes distributor in Western Australia. MGM's Managing Director, Lloyd Meredith has over 25 years experience in the liquor industry in Western Australia. MGM's other agencies include Brown Brothers, Driftwood Estate, Saint Clair from Marlborough, NZ and a range of other wines from a variety of regions.

Barokes launches the Chinese market. Our continued co-operation with BEMCO Australia has resulted in the appointment of a Chinese importer/distributor who has taken the Barokes range of innovative wines in a can on following a successful Taste of Australia promotion in the Far Eastern Department stores in Tianjing in April. Barokes is now listed in Far Eastern Department Stores in Beijing and Tianjing and has been listed by Sam's Club in China.

Barokes enters the UK market. Following our showing at the recent London Wine & Spirits Fair, Barokes has launched the UK market through Ex Cellar liquor outlets.

Barokes participated in the Melbourne Bar Show held from 2-3 May at the Royal Exhibition Buildings in Melbourne. This is the no. 1 trade event for the business of bars and is targeted at the hotel, pub, restaurant and bar sector. Barokes not only featured the innovative range of wine in a can, but also produced four cocktails using wine in a can. With a barman and promotional people on hand, there was much excitement generated by wine in a can and the Barokes cocktails.

Barokes CEO, Greg Stokes, attended the Boao Conference held on Hainian Island (China) in April. Barokes hosted a reception for delegates and was attended by some very senior representatives of government and global corporations. As a result, a number of Asian hotel groups are currently looking at introducing wine in a can into their mini bars and associated venues.

Barokes launches the Spanish market through the appointment of importer/distributor, Constantino Sabado Oliver S.A. Although Barokes has been available in Spain for some time through the Oil & Vinegar stores in Madrid, there has not been anyone on the ground actively marketing the product. The opening of this market was the culminated of 12 months work with principal, Alberto Sabado, who conducted some thorough market research prior to committing to take on Barokes in Spain.

Winning photos are published in Barokes monthly newsletter to our global network, Barokes News, and will be used for promotional purposes. All entries will appear here and will receive a mixed pack of Barokes WIC. Winning photos will be announced quarterly and will receive $200 worth of Barokes product and branded merchandise. After a three year battle over the granting of the Australian patent for its Vinsafe® (wine in a can) technology, Barokes finally beats global packaging giant Amcor Packaging (Australia) Pty Ltd in the Australian Patent Office. Barokes welcomes the Australian Patent Office’s confirmation of the validity of the Innovation Patent for the Vinsafe® technology, the Australian developed technique that produces wine in a can. Barokes’ Innovation Patent had been opposed by Amcor Packaging (Australia) Pty Ltd. Additionally, Amcor were directed to pay costs to Barokes.

The fantastic outcome of this truly "David & Goliath" battle has affirmed the status of the creators of the Vinsafe® technology as the leading authority on WIC and allows Barokes to get on with the business of licensing the technology to Australian and international wine producers so that they can in turn promote their product to new markets. It also means an end to uncertainty for Australia’s wine industry which is now looking forward to a greater involvement in WIC on a global basis.

This welcome decision means that Barokes can get on with the job of showcasing Australian innovation to the world and help our wine industry take up this great opportunity to package wine in a new and exciting way. It is also very encouraging to have received tremendous support from some major players in the wine and packaging industries that are also very keen that Barokes proceed with the licensing of the Vinsafe® technology.

Barokes’ Benelux importer/distributor, Food Present BV, shows WIC at the Horecava Amsterdam exhibition. WIC received an extremely positive feedback at this large exhibition targeted at the Horeca sector. Barokes WIC is introduced into Fairprice/NTUC retail outlets in Singapore. Although present for some time in the off-premise sector in Singapore, the introduction of WIC into the retail sector via such a large supermarket chain is a positive step in the growth of the Barokes brand in this Asian market.
